Introduction
When Ian and Daniel (me) were surfing just for fun on the Internet, we saw that we could improve the looks of Ian's webpage. We wanted to create a new modern style homepage with current information and funny stories. At the moment I am studying Webpage Design at the Manhattan KS Highschool and I wanted to test my knowledge about HTML. Therefore I took the part of programming the homepage and to invent a new kind of style. This style should be easy to use and has organized information and good overlook. Our agreement was to use red, because every body uses black and we wanted to be different. Ian helped and supported me to collect data, looking for news on the Internet and wrote some exciting stories. Another point is that we want to show you some graphics and maps about the weather in Manhattan KS. We hope you like and enjoy the homepage and we wish you a lot of fun to reading and looking through it.

About Ian
MY family lives in Manhattan KS. The family consists of me, Mango, our annoying parrot, about 30 fishes, and my parents. I like sailing and I am associated in the K-State sailing club. The picture is my remote controlled sailboat, Swallow II, at Nolt's pond, New Holland, Pennsylvania. My favorite type of sailboat is a Stowaway 16 (16 feet long.) The club has started an Optimist pram (flat on both ends) club and my mom is elected leader for it. (My pram is almost done,) I am in Cub-Scouts also. I have done Pinewood-Derby cars. My latest and last car got 2nd in Webelos, 4th in Troop 274, and 5th Manhattan wide. I was in fith grade and taught by Mr Gelroth at Theodore Roosevelt. My dad was running for USD383 school-board. Sadly he has lost getting 4th place. I am interested in rockets. I have 2 small kit rockets that are powered the same as the Solid-Rocket Booster on the NASA shuttles. Lately I have been working on a project called Icexplorer-The Europa Mission. (see link page for more information) I entered in the Reading Rainbow writing compitition with Sailing In The Fog. I got 1st place! I got to go on to the "all over the USA". If I won I would have gotten the book published!!! I have done the competition before with The Monarch Who Thought He Was a Human and gotten 2nd place.

About Daniel
I am an exchange student from Germany/Cologne(a major city with a population of 1 million inhabitants). Moreover I am very happy to have the opportunity to stay a whole year in America to see your traditions and cultures. I had such a great time and I think I got a lot of experience for life. This experience redefined all the views I had of the American society and culture. Although this year has passed extremely quickly, I will always remember it as my doorstep to adulthood. I have met nice people, have improved my language skills and have seen many different places that not everyone would be able to see.

While I was at home, the Cologne Cathedral Choir was one of my most time-consuming hobbies. In addition to the usual choir practice I have been taking piano lesson for 8 year - mostly modern pieces and we sang fortnightly during mass at Cologne Cathedral. We often gave concerts not only in the Cologne area but also throughout Germany and abroad. In addition to numerous performances I have also participated in many benefit concerts both here and abroad. For example I went on a trip to Rome with the choir where we took part in a service held by the pope. My furthest journey with the choir was to the USA, where we gave concerts in Chicago and Dallas. My friends and I stayed with very nice American guest families. This time made a deep impression on me and was a fantastic new experience. This is the reason for my wish to spend an exchange year in USA. I am interested in foreign countries, cultures and different ways of life.

Now, in the USA my host family is very nice to me. We do lots of different things together and so I do not miss Germany very much. Last weekend I went with my host family to an American football game. This was a new experience for me. In Germany you never see something about American football. Only soccer has a very big and important position in Germany. This means that you can not escape from soccer. Also for the past 6 years I have been a member of the junior team in our tennis club.
